How Long Do Certain Products Last?

My AD has gotten out of hand the past couple of weeks because some hard to find items from across the pond have become available and I had to jump at the chance to purchase them. :biggrin1: The products, Monsavon, Irisch Moos shave stick, and P.160 in zip-lock bag, are in their original condition and have not been opened and I'm wondering how long they will keep without going rancid? Also, I have a puck of Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet that's still wrapped and has been in its box for about 6 months now, how long will it last?

Don't know about soft soaps, but hard soaps will last many years as long as they are kept in a dry, reasonably cool place.

There are reports of wetshavers using antique hard shaving soap that is 40-50+ years old. After awhile the scent will probably dissipate, but the soap itself should last a very long time if properly stored.

I wouldn't store them in the bathroom because that could lead to moisture and mold developing on the soap. Also, make sure you let your soap dry (with the container lid off) for a day or so before putting it away.

I was thinking that the hard soaps (Blenheim Bouquet & Irisch Moos) would be fine so long as they're still wrapped. I've never heard of mold developing on soap...interesting.

I bought several small bricks of P.160 and only a couple will fit in my container (mama bear tub). I kept the other two bricks wrapped in the wax paper it came in and stored them in a zip lock bag. Do you guys think they are fine in there or will they dry out?

when I started with soaps I had the same question. Answer is - as long as it is kept dry - its good. My personal observation is that once it is kept too long - you just might want to let it soak for a couple of days otherwise the blade doesn't glide as smoothly as you would like.

How long will the soft soaps (Valobra, P.160) last while in a tub? I haven't used Valobra in a couple of weeks and it has a light brown tint to it.
