how do i clean a gold plated superspeed?

will hertel or any of the other soap scum removal chemicals damage gold plating on my Gillette superspeed?

Use hot water and soap. Let it soak. toothbrush. finish with some windex for shine.

NO harsh cleaners or polishes should be used on gold-plated razors. The gold is thin, and can easily be polished off. Certain chemicals can remove the layer of lacquer used to protect the gold layer.

I've used Lysol (1.5 oz/ gallon of water) in the past on numerous gold razors and have had no issues, they weren't that beat up.
