Hot or Not?

I am still a relative noob when it comes to wet shaving. Came back after 30+ yrs of electric. I have watched nearly every video on Youtube about shaving and devoured the threads on B&B. (I travel so I have lots time to kill in the hotel). Great stuff. Anyway, I don't recall ever seeing anything about warming pre-shave oils. This morning I tried it. I put my brush and my bottle of American Crew oil in the sink with hot water while I took a shower. when I put the oil on it applied beautifully and felt terrific. Used mrko stick and a Derby Extra blade. The blade was a few days old because I left my other blades at home (Doh!). Still got a great shave, no nicks and very little sting from my Alum bar. Does anyone else heat their oil? I certainly will be from now on.

Actually, I don't use pre-shave oil, but it is a lot of fun and very satisfying to learn these little tips. Have fun!!

I haven't tried shaving with oil yet, it's on my list of things to try. When I do, I will definitely warm it up though, thanks!

Cool idea, when warmed I guess the oil will loose some of its viscosity and be easier to coat the skin. Must give it a try

I just put the oil on at room temp. Your way sounds like a luxury, but takes time I don't have to spend on it. I may try it on a weekend, sounds nice.

Really doesn't take any extra time if you shower before you shave. Just drop the bottle of oil in the sink with hot water and your brush while you shower. They are both warm when you get ready to shave.
