hollow ground? extra hollow ground?

i know this has been asked before, i just don't know where: i am a total newbie to both safety or straight razor shaving. i've been looking for straight razors and don't know whether to buy one that is hollow ground, extra hollow ground, or whatever else there may be.

You might have a better response if you post your question in the Straight Razor forum. A hollow ground blade has concave surface from the spine to the edge of the razor. The extra hollow ground has a more pronounced concave surface, making it extra thin relative to the hollow ground. Which is better? Both styles have their advantages but either can make a quality blade, well suited for shaving. There are other blade designs as well.
