Help with Vintage Personna

I found these in my local tobacconist, the package reads "made in gt britain" and "made under license of Philip Morris Inc" they seem to be coated in an amber plastic, the edge is rust free.

they come in boxes of 4

Are these any good?, should I shave with them?

Try them and let us know what you have. They might be bad but they could be nice. I have some old Personna Stainless blades make in the UK and they are great.

What country did you get these in?

To me the UK Personna during the Phillip Morris era (usually 1963 or so to around 1970 in the US market) are at least serviceable to good, certainly totally usable. They generally if not always are Stainless Steel, but with other brands, Super Thins often were not Stainless, so I can't say for sure about your blades.

It is interesting to see them as "Super Thins." Thins were generally the bargain priced blade category- both Gillette and Schick had them. They can be excellent shavers, even if longevity suffers. The Gillette and Schick ones were perhaps not Stainless, but as long as they are teflon coated can provide several excellent shaves.

Personna was teflon coating their main blades from the beginning of the time period, so use them and report back how long they lasted.

These blades may be relatively rare as well. I could find no ads or google news archive mentions of them at all. The Schick Krona Thins are also somewhat rare, as they were not produced for long, but they did appear in some ads and are on ebay once in a while. The Gillette Thins are pretty common.

Thanks for the info, I haven't found anything around the internet about them, they seem to be stainless, they're definitely teflon coated.

I've got them in mexico city from "la casa del fumador", the only place that carries some shaving gear in the city as far as I know

I will change blade tomorrow or so, so I'll keep posting about how the shave was, and how long do they lasted.

Again, Thanks For the info :001_smile

I think the longevity will remain a mistery . . .

the blade pulled and skipped like no other I have tried, it caused lots of razor burn when used with my superspeed.:thumbdown I won't be using it again soon
