What's new

Help needed please

Hi Gentlemen
I've been teaching in Suzhou, Eastern China for a few weeks now and had no chance to B&B, but I'm in dire need of shaving supplies, which don't seem at all in evidence here. They seem to think the M3's the coolest new thing and so far I can only source
Gillette BLue blades
Apache blades
Shick Double-edged blades
No saop or cream at all.
Can anyone offer opinions on these blades or tell me of a place in Shangai that does real shaving stuff? I'm an hour from Shanghai and WOULD make a special trip as I've not even seen it yet and its supposed to be a very special place
It might take me weeks to get a chance to log on again, but please keep the suggestions coming......
Thanks very much
Steve

I know that Nacet are made in china but don't know where you can get them!

I've tried the Gillette Super Blues and they're good blades. Sharp and rasonably smooth. Think I'll need to go to Shanghai for soap though.

Suzhou is a pretty nice town. I stayed at the Peony Hotel many times.

Schick made some pretty darn good DE blades, so I wouldn't wonder that those are ok.

Shanghai is a huge shopping mecca. I was just at Pudong Airport last week and they had a Bath and Body Works store in it, with Macca Root shave Cream.

I know there is a Dunhill barber at the Dunhill home on Huaihai Road, but I've never been there. They do straight razor shaves.

I also know that in the complex to the left of the Portman Ritz Carlton (as you face the entrance) is a supermarket with a lot of Western Goods. No safe bet you'd find anything there, but it's at least a lead.

No stop in Shanghai is complete without a stop for a beer in the Long Bar, in the same complex as the Portman Ritz Carlton on Nanjing West Road.

Good Luck

How much is it to have some shipped over? Have you asked any of our vendors if they'll ship to you? I regularly get small packages (usually music) from the far East since a lot of SACDs seem to sell from there. I usually pay $3-$6 (or so) and would gladly pay that bit extra to get the blades I prefer.
