Help me repair my husband's Shavemac!

Hi everyone,

A couple years ago, I bought my husband a silvertip shavemac with a blue marble handle. Fast forward to now, where he dropped it, and the knot broke out. The knot is fine, but the handle ended up in the dog's mouth, and well, uh, let's just say we're down one brush in our house. I will post pictures if necessary, but I'm sure you get the jist.

My husband is devastated and wants Santa to bring him a new brush for Christmas. However, Santa is on a budget, and is wondering can I just get him a really nice handle and save the cost of a new knot by recycling ourselves at home?

Thanks for the help.

You should be able to get some good help from the craftsmen here. But, yes, you can definitly save the knot. You can buy a handle blank or even contact Bernd at Shavemac and see if he can send just a handle.

Or you could watch ebay or the BST and find an old handle with some character, remove the knot from that one, and glue your knot into it.

Ummm... I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind seeing pictures of what a Shavemac looks like after being introduced to Rover. I mean those handles are SOLID. Rover must be a monster! :tongue_sm

What size is the knot?
I have some 22mm handles that I made a while back.
Seems most clients prefer to spec their handle then buy one already made.

Kates, you need to send Bernd an email at Shavemac. He is a wonderful, helpful guy, he may be a bit slow to respond, but he is incredibly responsible. Explain the situation to him, send him the pics, he will solve this for you. The knot, luckily, appears to be in perfect condition. This is going to work out. In any event, send it to Bernd, or one of the other pros mentioned above. Rudy, has done incredible work for me. I would also suggest touching base with MyCarver, he is quite the craftsman as well.

Thanks everyone for the help. Bernd is getting me setup, and for much less than I thought it would cost. Hope this one stays away from the dog!
