Help Me Find a Replacement for L'Occitane Cade

Today was a very sad day for me. I had a wonderful shave with L'Occitane Cade shaving soap, and finished up with the Cade aftershave splash. As I looked in that wonderful brown glass bottle from which I shake the Cade elixir, I saw that I have two, maybe three shaves left before my Cade splash is gone forever. I still can't believe L'Occitane discontinued the splash. Cade is one of the best scents I have come across, and I will miss it when my last few drops of the aftershave are gone. I have tried the balm, and it is not a suitable replacement.

Have any of you gents found a suitable replacement for the L'Occitane Cade aftershave splash?

Have any of our resident soapers/scenters given a shot at a Cade clone?

I don't know if there are any clones available, but i plan on ordering some cade EO when i get a chance. i'm not really in to making my own grooming products, but i'll make an exception for cade.

I'm in the same boat, my Cade splash is almost gone and I've yet to find a suitable replacement.

I bought some Cade EO and by itself it does not smell like the splash. It has the appearance of tar and it is very very smokey in scent.
To me it smells just like liquid smoke. I spilled one drop on my carpet and the room still smells like a smokehouse.

Here is a picture of the ingredient list from the bottle. Cade oil, Juniperus Oxycedrus, is actually the seventh ingredient.
There are quiet a few great smelling ingredients is the splash, no wonder it smells and performs so great. Before I actually read
the label I figured I could mix up the Cade EO with some witch hazel and call it a day, boy was I wrong.

One option to consider is D.R. Harris' Marlborough. It is listed as a sandalwood/cedar scent but all I get from it is cedar. That was the prominent note in L'occitane's Cade. It is not as stoutly scented as Cade but is very close to the dry, woody scent of Cade. See if you can get a sample to test. BTW, I have owned and used both. I used up the Cade and am slowly working my way through the Marlborough. Marlborough does have a dose of menthol where Cade did not. So it does make a difference.

I use the DR Harris Marlborough aftershave. It is a wonderful aftershave, and one of my favorites. However, it lacks the juniper scent of the Cade. I would love to find an aftershave that combines cedar and juniper. I think the juniper in the Cade is what makes (made?) it so unique.

I wish I had solutions fellas, but my experience has been the same, including the cade/tar experiment.

I like DRH Marlborough, but it's not quite the same.

For me it wasn't just the scent of the splash that I liked.....

It was the unique warming properties (from the cardamum?) that make it such a good cold weather product.

It was the moisturizing properties which were a bit better than your typical alcohol + glycerine + scent splash.

It was the classy, high quality packaging - a thick brown glass bottle with a cool label that withstood the wet bathroom environment.

I regret not purchasing more when I heard it was being discontinued. It pops up on the bay every once in a great while but I refuse to pay the exhorbitant prices that were being asked on the opening bid. I stopped looking. Perhaps time to take another peek! :biggrin1:
