HD

I am trying to buy an HD but there seems to be more than one HD in the market. Look at the following for instance:

- Merkur HD Classic "barber Pole" Long Safety Razor #38c
- Merkur HD 34c
- Merkur HD Slant Safety Razor 37c

Any thoughts as to what's the difference between these. Which one of these is the famous HD that everyone talks about?

What does HD stand for by the way?

HD = Heavy Duty (?). In my mind at least that's what it means. I only have the 34c, but I'd like to get a slant. If you go for the 37c reprot back with some forward recon.

until I switched to the long handle Merkur.. the HD was a lot more aggressive for me, and the stubby handle was harder for my large hands to deftly manipulate.. I get a lot smoother shaves with the long handle, using the same blades, etc.. to each his own face, I guess.

The 34C is the razor typically also know as the HD, which stands for Heavy Duty.

The 37C looks exactly alike except for the slant head. I have that one as well as the 39C SledgeHammer Slant. The 37C is a nice shaver, but I prefer the 39C. With the extra weight, you can really just let it glide across your face without any pressure and the shave it awesome, IMO.
