Has anyone replated an injector?

I've searched and searched but can't find anyone who's replated or re-handled an injector. I figured with all the SE lovers hear perhaps I would find some info. Anyone seen/have one?

No, I haven't heard of anyone doing that, at least not nicely. I once got an injector in a lot that had a handle fashioned from an old antenna, but that wasn't anything you would want to see in your den.

The cost of them are so low and must are so common that if yours starts to show plate wear it is far less expensive to replace it than replate it.

I'm currently making a handle for a type J that I bought very cheap with a bent handle (melted!) mainly because it had two nice NOS blade injectors with it. It cleaned up nice so I decided to put a new handle on it. I must get round to finishing it.:blushing:

That's pretty cool. Keep us updated on that!
I wonder what kind of awesome we would be looking at right now if cooncatbob had decided to make some handles for injectors.

I will have to admit that I "almost" had a custom handle made for a golden 500 that had a cracked handle where the head attached which made it too wobbly to use. In the end I returned it to the eBay seller for a refund as the cost/benefit of a custom Rhodium injector (even the latest hydro-magic head) was just not in the cards for me.

I've seen on that had a horn attached to it. Just didn't look right.

Cost/benefits doesn't work on replating a mostly plastic device. Some have rehandled. Like Turtle said, better to buy a new specimen.

Someone on this forum replated a type D in rhodium, the rarity and the fact the handle is metal makes it worth while ; )

I had a Type D plated in nickel by West Coast Razors.

extraordinary. rivals the Cobra in "bling factor."

i have a G head and am thinking about making a custom wood handle for it. depending how it turns out, a replate might be a nice additional touch.
