Hair problem!!!!

My hair isn't going grey, it is turning pure bright electric white!

I've aways had really thick jet black hair. When I look at pictures from January 2009 I had no grey/white hair.

Now the sides are predominantly white and I have salt and pepper on the top.
I can see some of the hairs turning red and over a 1-2 week span the turn pure white.

I mentioned it to my doctor and she said that it's normal for a strand of hair to get thinner and turn white. She also said that people at my age either take it badly or take it in stride. *** at my age? I'm 31!

I also tried dying my hair... apparently the dye wouldnt stick to the white hair.
Went to a salon and the PERMENANT dye washed out in a week.

So anyone else go white in less than a year?
Anyone knoe how to dye white hair?

Oh and permenant black marker makes white hair purple after a few washes. The things kids do to try and help when daddy's asleep.

I've had gray wisps by my ears since my early 20's, and they're started really making an appearance at around your age. Anything you do to cover it is going to going to end up looking silly, you might as well own it proudly.

I guess what was really bothering me is when my wifes coworkers asked if I was her dad. There's only a 10 year age difference!

Today when I picked her up from work they were all saying it makes me look distinguished with the white hair on the sides and wanted to touch it.

They think: "He knows what to do, and is still young enough to do it!"

Guys of a certain age who dye their hair look like clowns, even if they're otherwise well-kempt and fit. I've overheard women discussing this.

I'm in the 'never say dye' camp myself.

That said, if you have truly jet-black hair and live near a Japanese products store, you might want to experiment with Japanese hair dyes. Asian hair can go a wiry white when it goes, which sounds like what you've described. The Japanese dyes are apparently good at both sticking and looking like real hair color (as opposed to, say, a Clairol which always looks a bit wiggy).

I was very surprised when certain friends of mine 'fessed up to coloring.

My ex has the same deal- the silver hairs started coming in around age 30, and now, at 33, his temples are white and he's got sizable silver streaks in his otherwise brown hair. But there's no problem; it looks good on him and the ladies love it. Enjoy the extra attention!
