Haberdashery Shopping in London

I will be traveling to London in a few weeks and would like to do some shopping. Aside from the typical Jermyn Street staples, which I will of course visit, can anyone recommend any interesting shops for shoes, clothing, hats and fountain pens in London?

Harrods comes to mind, you will find pretty much everything there, and also stop in the food halls....

Bates hat makers on Jermyn Street. Hackett has branches in Jermyn Street, Regent Street, Sloane Square, I love their clothes, and they have a website so you can take a look before you go to London. Cordings of Picadilly is also nice though a bit more traditional in styles and cuts.

How much do you want to spend?

Seriously, the sky's the limits for some of these places, both quality and price.

The best clothing is on Savile Row ... you will pay for it. (Nice to windowshop, though.)

Good question. I guess a fair amount, but I'm not particularly looking for suits on this trip, but I will no doubt stroll Saville Row. I'm thinking perhaps some Edward Greens, shirts for business, maybe a hat, and I guess some shaving supplies. I also wonder about a new briefcase. I was thinking about a Mitchell, but if there is something nice in London I might go for it.

London is one of the men's clothing Meccas. What are you after? A Drake's tie? A Cording's Covert Coat? A shirt or two from Gieves & Hawkes? A matched pair of Purdy doubles in .375 H&H magnum?

Should you find yourself in Mayfair with some time to kill, please check out Lutwyche and report back. :thumbup1:

I've been considering a Sam Hober ... how to they compare to Drakes?

Sam Hober ties are amazing...about to order a few grenadines from him. Beautiful fabric, great detail and quality customer service, I can't say enough great things about David. David and his wife own the shop and its named after his daughter Samantha. Wonderful hand rolled pocket squares also.

Here's a great place to start: Sam Hober Tie Appreciation Thread
