guitar amps

I own a Traynor YCV40 and I'm very satisfied with it. Takes pedals really well and it has an effects loop. 40 watts of LOUD !

One of the best sounding amps I have ever owned:

It's the Artisan 212 30 watt. I picked up a new one on closeout at Guitar Center for something like $1,200. It's handwired and the 30 watts is huge. It's very heavy though.

Yeah the Deluxe Reverb should be perfect. 22 watts is LOUD. The Twin is like 80 watts, and unless you're playing in huge arenas, will be way too much. And if you need to dirty up the sound, there are pedals obviously.

The twin is way too much amp for most people's needs. You'll get everything you need from the two that I mentioned. If you like a nice smooth tremolo, go with the Princeton. If you want a little more power, get the Deluxe.

I have a blues Jr that I modified with 6v6 octal tubes and bumped up the capacitors to make the bass more crisp also added a presence knob with push/pull high boost because the amp comes with fat boost. I also changed the reverb pot and master volume pot with tappers to get better control over the crunch so that it only crunches when I hit the strings harder. And a few skillet mods.

Mind you, these amps sound great out of the box especially the Deville versions with the blond tweed. But the mods are pretty easy if you know what your doing and there are some good forums on modding this amp. When your finished you have a boutique amp with sweet clean tones and mix match tube variations will give you vintage to modern tonal possibilities.

I have played through Twins, Deluxes, peavey renound, crates, Traynors, Marshall's, Roland Jazz Chorus, polytone mini brute, matchless, and some Mesa Boogies and have to say that the Jr with it's size and weight compared to these others is more highly versital and much easier to carry!

Oh I forgot that I changed the output transformer to lower the wattage to 18watts and added an expansion speaker jack to turn it into a twin 12" when I need. That said, this thing is cranking low with the single 12.

Hope this helps!!

Are those the Billm mods??

I have a Blue Jr. as well (Tweed cover), switched out the tubes and speaker...just because :) It suits my needs which are minimal

I had the tweed covered separate reverb unit which was cool but overkill for me so I sold that.
