Greedy with bbs shave

Well I shaved again this am and had irritation on my neck. I used a de89 with an astra blade, vdh soap and shaving brush. I started the prep by washing my face in the shower. Then i wet the brush and lathered the soap. By the way great lather. I did a wtg pass on my face and neck Then I did an atg, on my jawline. Finally I did atg on my neck and face. i still find myself going over the neck area and Adam's apple area to get it bbs. This of course irritates my skin.

I want to learn how to just let my skin be after a close acceptable shave and not always bbs shaves. Also, my shaves are lasting 40 minutes and I would like to cut some of this time off. For work could I get by with 1 or at most 2x pass shave and not worry about getting all of my stubble off? Of course, I have mapped my face and I am working on getting blade angle correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, before I comment, I must say that I have had a wee dram or two.....or possibly even three
A true BBS will come when you stretch your skin enough that when you cut your whiskers they will actually recede under the skin.... Go for a very close DFS instead....you will have a much more harmonious shaving experience, IMO.

Its been said a bazillion times, but in reflection:
Map your beard growth with your hand
Use good shave prep
Use only the weight of your razor for pressure.
If you miss some whiskers on any single pass, don't fret and keep shaving over the same area...you will get them on a subsequent pass or touch up.
Get yourself a razor blade sample pack....did I hear WCS ? Absolutely no affiliation other than giving them Carte Blanche with my bank account. (sigh)
Shave at night so your skin will feel better in the morning.
For razor burn, have a bottle of Osage Rub on hand. If it doesn't help razor burn, you need to get on down to the ER. Personally I use it for my special Mint Julep simple syrup.

I had similar experience....crazy me I thought I could go over an area without lather/cream/etc like I could with the Mach3 Turbo. What I didn't realize was the turbos left behind some lube from the strip that prevented the razor burn on the second no lather pass. Now I go by the motto I read some time ago...no lather no blade.

I use the same razor and blade. You might want to get another soap. VDH isn't bad but isn't great either. I find all the Proraso soaps and creams good and protective. TOBS is great too. As already mentioned, don't forget to lather up again if you're doing another pass. Buffing and other techniques of going over the same spot multiple times are tough on the neck.
