Great shave with Slim adjustable

To set the context, I am very satisfied with the quality of shaves with both my Merkur 34C and Edwin Jagger 89L, Feather blades and all shave creams and soaps in my rotation.

However, after reading the Wiki aggression ranking by blade gap size and putting my razors in a measurable sequential order, I was tempted to experiment. So this morning, I dialed up my slim adjustable to 5, which is about .004" inch larger than the Merkur. What an amazingly great shave! BBS after three passes (WTG, XTG inside-out, outside-in), no need for ATG, close shave in problem areas without touch-up. Wow.

Man, I love shaving.

Congrats on your good shave. I too get best results with my new slim. Though I have to use mine on 9 with a Feather blade to effectively hack down those wiskers.

The Gillette Adjustables are great razors. The only ones I've used that give me consistently bloodless shaves.

My daily shaver is also a slim, very happy with it!

Got a birthday Slim coming soon and it will be even sweeter:w00t:

I used my slim on 5 today as well and I got one of the best best shaves so far. Maybe its like the sweet spot of the razor.:001_smile

I just received the "vintage" Slim Adjustable ( I-2) that I got on eBay in todays mail. I was very pleased to see that: it has no blemishes, is in perfect working order, the paint on the numbers is even all there. The seller claimed to have cleaned and disinfected it but, I gave it a short soak in Scrubbing Bubbles any way. I think I will start at 3 and work up to 5 as I get use to it. Heck, I may even spring for a brand new feather blade for the maiden voyage.

I am very impressed with the solid feel, great grip and mechanical ingenuity that went into making it. If it shaves half as good as it looks....

Adjust on,

Mitch
