Great Grandpa's Strop

I am a DE man so I know NOTHING of razor strops but I was given my Great Grandfather, John Maness' razor strop today.
I have no idea how old it is but he died of the Spanish Influenza at age 36.
To me it looks like it is only part of or half of a strop and it has no markings whatsoever (generic?) If anyone has any clue of what type strop it once was or any ifo at all I would appreciate.

What do you mean it looks like it's missing half the strop? It looks intact to me. Do you mean you think its missing a second component like a linen strop? Because I doubt it's missing anything. It probably came just like that.

I thought a strop always consisted of two straps of leather hanging together. This is only one strap of leather so I assumed half of it was missing. This is one strap folded in half.

I can see that. Having two components not a strop make. I should know, I'm using a Filly right now for my straights. It's a single leather strop.

You should know more than I  I am Stropnorant lol!
So perhaps I have a complete strop then  Is there any specific name for this type of strop? I also assume I need to find some type conditioner or perhaps a mineral oil to apply since it has been in storage for so long.

You could probably use some Fromm, or if you don't want the bottled leather conditioner, I know some guys use neatsfoot oil.

If you plan on using the strop though, I recommend you get something else to practice with first.

I just plan on hanging it by my medicine cabinet to look at, I did hit a DE blade a couple swipes on it just to see what it would do. I have an old Harris-Goar straight razor which I will probably display with it.
