Great Coffee Find

I was trolling through a local Asian food market here in suburban DC (Merrifield), looking for a Vietnamese ice coffee maker. Found one and there happened to be a brand of Vietnamese coffee on the shelf and I thought I'd give it a try. The brand name is Trung Nguyen.

Dizzam. While I was making the iced coffee, I couldn't help but notice the fantastic aroma of the coffee as it filtered through the unit. Big chocolate overtones, a little licorice and cream lift at the end. The iced coffee was wicked good, so I decided to experiment with my Aero-Press and Technivorm Moccamaster.

The Aero-Press was a minor Fail since the coffee's not ground for expresso, so I focused on the Moccamaster.

Dizzam again. What a great cup of coffee. I usually favor Cafe Americano over drip, but this will do just fine. Big, big coffee flavor without bitterness or bite. At $5.49 for a 15 oz. can, a bargain to boot!

I'm curious how it holds up in a week or two. I've had some ground coffee that was very good when first opened, but it went downhill fast.

Trung Nguyen brand coffee is the most popular (and most redily available coffee) in Vietnam. We use it very often over there. Here in America, if you can't find Trung Nguyen, you use cafe du mond.
