Great blade for 38C

I just wanted to say that I just had the 4th or 5th shave with a Walmart Personna Platinum Chrome blade in a 38C and got a great shave. I used Razorock Fresco and a Semogue LE 2011 Bristle size 2, but I still think that it was the blade that rocks. There was a low level of auditory feedback, but no tugging, no blood or irritation even ATG on my neck. This is a smooth, sharp and durable blade that deserves some attention.

The Walmart Personna Platinum Chrome has been an excellent performer in several other razors as well and is definitely worth a try.

These blades get mixed response here, but they seem to be at least servicable for most, and nice to know that they're
available locally in a pinch.

I also have a 38C with the long brass core handle, and my first experience with a store branded blade was when I ran out of blades, went to the Rite Aid drugstore, and paid too much for a pack of what turned out to be Personna blades....

I was impressed! They worked beautifully in both my Merkur, and my favorite Stahly razor. Some people claimed that they had no coating, but the Rite Aid box indicated platinum coated, and made in USA. I have since bought several Personna branded packs through Amazon, and they are also fabulous blades. Can't tell the difference...

So, I have them, love them, and use them from time to time... My Astra SP blades are too good, and too cheap to ignore, and I love expensive Feathers from time to time in my Stahly razor, but the Personnas hold a grip on third place for price/performance.... Enjoy!

Edit... I failed to mention that Feathers are only shaving nirvana in my Stahly razor. In the Merkur (or any other standard non vibrating razor I have tried) they tend to create random weepers, and the Personna blades work better. That's important to keep in mind...

I've only looked for them online so I cannot address whether they can be found in the store itself.

I know they are not the cheapest out there, but I seem to remember calculating it out to about 20 cents/blade.

The Platinum Chromes are the only ones that I have and tested. They are a sharp, smooth blade that lasts me at least 4 very good shaves.

I like Astras and Feathers as well.

... in store, those Personnas have gone the way of the Chevrolet Vega. I have the last pack from my local Wally World. Saving it in case I have an old age.

The equivalent ASR products are available for much less online. Try Israeli Blues or Lab Blues. The Reds are harsh for me but that's why I shopped around.

Ah, 38C. Feels wonderful with these blades! In fact, with most of my blades. Happy shaving!

Wally world has apparently moved on to the Wilkinson Sword brand, but RiteAid drugstores are still marketing the same old US made Platinum Chrome Personna blade... They charge way too much, but they are the real deal. Also, several people have mentioned that old Wally World, and other Personna stock has been showing up at Dollar stores... I'll be looking for those bargains....

Sadly, it seems that my 'go-to' Shark SC's are having some quaility control issues (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthr...s-have-changed), lately and I thought I might try a new blade with my 23C & 38C...totalily different than the ones I've tried in the past (and we could go 'way back').

That said, I did try Astras (Russian), Superior Platinum's (which I thought was 'passable'), and I'm working my way through a Russian Sampler (starting with the Sputniks and Ladas'. So far, I find them moderately sharp with no tugging and pulling...[I like the Ladas alot better], but the jury is still out).
