What's new

Grandfathers old brush.

Went to visit my parents over the weekend and to my surprise sitting in the bathroom was an old Ever-Ready brush. I was told it belonged to my grandfather, who passed away earlier this year, and I was more than welcome to have it. This is only my second restoration but will mean so much more. I am going to drop in a TGN 18mm silvertip.

Here is the before pics of the 400PB:

I have it drilled out and pollished. I am just waiting till pay day to get the knot. I will post the after pics as soon as its done.

Awesome mate. Looking forward to your pics.

Must feel great knowing your using something your Grandfather used for years.

That's awesome! My grandfather passed away about a month ago. He had a DE razor, but no one knows where it ended up. My dad was looking for it for me, but he isn't sure where it went. It is awesome to get something that is passed down like that.

Drilled out the old knot and worked on the lettering.

Thank you all for the kind comments. I can't wait to get it back into service, my grandfather was the kind of person if something broke you fixed/rigged it. In fact we referred to much of his work as "Willie Rigged" ... I know he would get a kick out of it.

A member is making me a great deal on a TGN Silvertip Grade A. (thank you a ton DavidB)

Any suggestions on how deep to set the knot? I am thinking about weighing it down with pennies and epoxy.... i really prefer the brushes to have a bit of heft to them.

Count,
cant look for them right now, but there are some threads that describe how to put a knot in that is secure for lathering, but easily removed for resetting the loft. Take a look at those. I think oscar11 might have started it but am not sure.
