Got me a Gillette Red Tip - Update

Hi chaps,

Well I've now had three shaves with my new toy and I'm well pleased. The shave was not as aggressive as I expected and is milder than my Merkur Futor that I normally use on the lowest setting. Head edges are a bit sharper than the Futor as it dug into my cheek a bit when I was shaving my top lip but it was not a cut just a sharp enough jab to remind me to flatten my face a bit more than I usually do with the Futor as the head is not so wide. Sunday I drew first blood when I rushed the last pass and took a piece out of my nose!! lol my fault not the razor.

Most impressed, for a 55 year old razor it is still working as good as when first made with no sign of wear in the mechanism that I can detect. They sure made them well in them days, I'm glad I took notice of all the recommendations for this razor on the forums

thanks all

Oh man, I've been keeping my eye on one of these for a while.... I just may have to bite the bullet and go for it.
Glad you are enjoying yours!

Congrats--it's a great razor.
I always liked the gnurling on the handle - too bad Gillette didn't use it on the Fatboy, then it would've been the perfect razor, IMHO.

The Red Tip is one of the most under-appreciated Gillettes. I rarely use my Futur, but when I do, I also use a low setting. But the Red Tip is, IMHO, far better than the clunky Futur. The RT provides a smooth shave with a perfect level of aggressiveness for me.
