What's new

Got me a BIG razor.

The "Celebrated". Was doing my final walk through at the antique fair when my left eye zoomed in on the spine of this razor while my right eye moved right and spotted a 1938 Aristocrat open comb by the same vendor. I'd make a gecko proud. Anyway looking at the scale I said "whoa" and the vendor let it go for $15. Don't know if I paid too much but I really liked the amount of steel & heft this razor had. I am equally impressed by the condition it's in with no rust some minor chipping on the scale otherwise all it needs is a light buffing an honing. I'm sure you've seen a million of these so accept my apologies for the re post. Excited to have this sent out to shave with.

15 bukaroonies for an FBU???? Shhhheeewwwttt, why can't that happen to me?

Uh, no, they are not the dime a dozen you might think, and no, you got no where near overpaying, IMHO.

$15? You stole that razor. Would go at least $40 on the bay. I'm not a big fan of that type, but it is very popular and that is a pretty good example you got there.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It'll be exciting to see this restored to it's former glory. I think that's the fun part of any of this as we will be long gone one day but had a hand in saving something that's old and available for use for another generation.
Cheers!

Very nice pick up there.

The blade appears to be covered in just patina without rust. It should clean up nicely.

The scales will look new with a little sanding and some polishing.

Thank Alfredo for the tips you've provided. I'll have five days off in a few and will go with gusto on the many razors I have.

Killer deal for $15. Thats a very nice razor, both as a shaver and collectable

Thanks Nick. Really like the look of this one.
