Good Watery Fragrance?

What are some of the best watery aquatic fragrances you've used? I'm looking to work one into my collection (I tried to have a variety of colognes from different families to keep my scent interesting)

I've tried a few here and there and never been able to settle on one that's for me. A couple of close but no cigar ones that I use now are Nautica Voyage and Bvlgari Aqva.

What are your favorites? I'm looking for a clean, watery, aquatic cologne...the type that people usually complain are too generic and mass market...I've got room in the lineup and that's one scent family I'm really thin on...

My fav is Miller Harris "Fleur de Sel", though its a tough find. T&H "Trafalagar" is another great one.

I did a blind trade recently that included the Bvlgari Aqva, and to me it smells just like Acqua di Gio, which I like. I know the AdG gets hammered here for its over-familiarity, but if you might consider it if you haven't tried it already. It may be different enough to be interesting to you.

That's a stumper..................all the GOOD water I've smelled had NO smell! BAD water can smell like rusty nails, sulfer, rotten eggs, dead fish, etc, so I guess a little clarification is in order. Names are very ambiguous.

"marine' might be the most apt word. Very modern family of scents. There must be a thousand of them out there. Cool water would be the classic, but has many imitators, etc.

Or maybe not. Creed Silver Mountain Water seems "watery" to me without being marine. You might check that one out. I got a good-sized decant of it and liked it a lot. Rather fleeting though.

Creed Virgin Island Water seems watery without being marine, too.

If you're looking for watery I'd have to throw in Demeter Rain. Smells like it's named. It's actually really refreshing and smells like just before it rains. Also you can sample a 1/2 oz splash from Demeter for $6. If you don't like it on you just use it as a room scenter whenever you feel like rain but it's 110ºF outside.

Also Wet Garden from Demeter is pretty good. I like it better than Rain but it has some floral notes whereas Rain just smells like....well, you get it.

In the Creed line, my fav is "Erolfa" and I'd call it marine. Interesting to see someone post about Demeter....I've never tried any of them, but they seem to have a "realistic" theme to their line.
I think "marine" or "watery" scents fall right into the desire for "fresh", "clean" scents that men want for their products. As to things like AdG and Cool Water being looked down upon, I'd ignore that. The most important thing is that a given scent is what you, the wearer, likes. Everything else is just noise.

The Demeter line does try to go for realistic. Some work, some not so much. Butboth Rain and Wet Garden work pretty well. Their Dirt is also spectacular. Sounds weird, but it's pretty good. The only drawback is that their scents are pretty fleeting.

You hit it right on the nose about not caring if a scent is looked down upon. Cool Water is totally a classic, smells great, and it's fairly inexpensive. What's not to love?

I definitely agree with the T&H 1805 suggestions, but I find T&H Trafalgar to be predominantly floral, not so oceanic (it certainly is fresh though!). You could go with Aqua di Gio of course, but if you read the reviews here you'll see it's got a sort of "frat boy" reputation and is really commonly used. The 1805 might be a nice, more unique alternative.

Oceanics are pretty popular with college-aged women these days and lots of alternatives are available (A lot major fragrance houses available in department stores have an oceanic fragrance. ie: CK, Armani, etc...). If you go to any fragrance shop you'll find a bunch and can likely find one you like for a good price.

+1000 on the Erolfa...definitely a favorite from the Creed line!

The first blast, to my nose, smells reminiscent of Acqua di Gio or 1805, but as it dries down it takes on its own character. Really comes to life when worn outdoors, and it leaves you smelling like you've been walking along a beach for a few hours.

I've always rather liked the "aqueous" "marine" "fresh" "ozonic" - whatever you want to call them - fragrances for summertime use. I always have a bottle on hand in the spring and try to use it up over the summer so that I can try something new next year.

Last year I tried the Lanvin Oxygene Homme, and I've bought it again this year. I find it really outstanding for a drugstore fragrance. I found the 100ml on sale for $19.99 last christmas.

It has an interesting coriander/juniper spice accord sitting on a base of white musk.

I believe that it is widely available. Give it a sniff next time you're at a department store.
