Good blade for sensitive skin?

Hey board, newbie DE shaver here. Im in the midst of trying blades to go with my razor and fair skin type and wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions. Ive tried Gillette Platinums and Feather HSs. I like the Feathers but I think they cut a little too well for starting out. Im using AoS cream at the moment and have a 7 or 8 brand sampler from WCS at my disposal. Tips?

Astras or Israeli Personnas. If Feathers irritate you, it's not because they cut too well, but because they don't cut well enough.

Hmm. I have a pack of Astras and Crystals, Personnas as well but I don't think they're the Red model, whatever WCS puts in their $20 sampler pack. Ill give the Astras a try tonite instead of the Derbys I was planning on. Thanks all.
Also, I noticed mindofsummer noted Israeli Personnas, is that due to superior QC or are the blades made to different sp3cs in different parts of the world?

I think Crystals and Red Personnas, both made in the same Nazereth facility and both often called Israeli Personnas, are more likely to be the same exact blade than various Personna-branded blades made in different factories. For whatever reason, the IPs have a good reputation for smoothness.

I had bad luck with the crystals on my neck. Smoothest blade I've found so far is either a Voskhod, Astra SP or a Personna Red. Of course, I haven't tried that many blades, I still have a bunch more to try that are sitting in my room waiting for me to test out. But for now, the above is all I can recommend for my somewhat sensitive neckline.

Thank you mindofsummer, some good info right there. Its a lot like professional tools in my line of work, some may carry a big name but not made to the same standards as the real deal.

If the Astra SP's bother you, you might try the Derby's. They're relatively mild, so some razor manufacturers include a pack with their razors (eg. Edwin Jagger). While you're developing technique, lather building skills and so forth, you might try 3 or 4 drops of pre-shave oil on a wet face (even olive oil) for extra protection/moisturizing.

From what I can tell people don't consistently agree on what blade is less or more irritating. I think in the end you will need to find out what you prefer.

Also, if you haven't explored soaps and creams, you may find a good one -- one that's good for you -- might make more difference than the blade.

Are you sure? There are very few (if any) blades sharper than Feathers.

Anyway, OP, I'd suggest the Wilkinson Sword blades (as made famous by Turtle's neverending blade thread). They're the only blade out of the many I've tried that I would swap my regular Feathers for.

I say Astra SP, Israeli Personna or UK Wilkinson. I would avoid like the plague Polsilvers. And please for the love of god, lets refrain from any "YMMV" acronyms on this thread.

How about YFMV. Seeing as how the blades aren't the difference between users, it would be their faces. Your Face May Vary.

So far my neck only likes Polsilver Super Iridiums (Russia) and Bluebird (Turkey). Polsilver is sharper and better than Bluebirds. Both work great in my Merkur 23C but don't use the Bluebird in a Muhle R41 or you will regret it. Try Personna Med Prep (some people say it is the same as Personna Lab - both made in the USA).
