gold plating

Hey guys quick question about the plating on some of the merkur razors.

how good is the plating on these things, because ive read a few reviews about the finish being somewhat thin and not lasting?

anyone have any experience with gold plated merkurs (good or bad), im mainly looking at the slant bar or maybe an HD.
