Doesn't a 'balance forward of the pivot pin' mean, in use, you tend to hold the razor closer to the blade which results in steadying the hand and more control of the razor
Most of us do not grip a razor by the scales. The pivot point is within the perimeter of the scales. We grip by the shank. The scales stick out between the fingers and provide a way to keep the shave angle steady.

Normally, "balance point" is not a consideration, but with the recent proliferation of big thick scales and one ounce flat spacers marketed by makers who can't be bothered to use a wedge, and bow out the scales properly, it is becoming a thing. But it is a personal thing. If a great, heavy pair of scales with a tremendous weight of thick metal spacer flopping around like a ball and chain irritates you, then it's not for you. If it makes no difference to you, then it makes no difference. If you like it that way, then it's good for you.
