Giving a shave?

Has anyone on here actually given someone a shave with a straight, or feel confident about giving someone a shave?

I am interested in this as well. I'm new to straight razor shaving and my hope is to get skilled enough to be confident giving my dad a shave on his birthday in a few months (although it may have to wait another year).

I've given 5 shaves with a straight ... even picked up an old barbers chair off of eBay to do them. All of them turned out mediocre to terrible. It's a lot harder to shave someone else than to shave yourself. I ran into very tough beards but the biggest problem was very sensitive/bad skin. Some of the problems might also have been caused by the fact that I wanted to sterilize the razors in an autoclave first and the heat may have damaged the edge. In any case, I've given up.

Ive shaved a few of my friends with the Artist Club straight with a new blade and my gf has shaven me before. To me its actually easier because you are much more careful with the blade than if your were doing yourself. If you look up the barbers textbook it give instruction on how to do it. You dont need boiling water either to soften beards. When shaving someone else it takes a lot of patience. Im not a barber by the way. It can be done and you will probable be amazed at the results. Now where is that cut throat at again. lol
