Gillette US Rhodium Executive vs #21 Aristocrat

Which do you prefer? I am assuming these are the same razor, with the only difference being the base plate/endcaps. Do they both shave the same? I recently found a #21, but the US exec looks gorgeous, not to mention the case is very unique. I suppose it really depends on the collector/user standpoint, but I thought I'd see what you guys thought!

If I didn't know better (and I don't), I would swear that the #21 and Executive are the exact same razor. They both shave a little more aggressively than their counterpart razors like the #16, #22, #66, President, Diplomat, and US Aristocrat.

Both are stellar in looks and shave quality.

it all depends, are you a collector ? or just want to shave with it? As a collector i would shoot for the Executive, The 21 you can pick up at a later date if you don't like the shave of the executive, but to be honest the Executive is the Hardest of them all to get when it comes to US Versions of Gillette, and Probably the most expensive at that, You don't see to Many Executive sets around these days :eek:/ .

I don't think I've ever seen a complete set for sale. I've seen the razor or case by itself, but it seems very rare to find a decent looking razor and case together.

The US rhodium executives are rare indeed, but can still be found. Ive seen sets sell for over $1000 even. I purchased mine from Mark a few months back at a very reasonable price. They are excellent shavers and can't be beat when it comes to looks and luxury. My US executive has become one of my favorite display pieces.

Old thread......My view.

I finally had the pleasure of shaving with this gem tonight. I paired this with a GSB blade and Aos soap and went at it. The short if it is this razor is perfect for me and those of you who like a razor calibrated on an adjustable dial of 3-5. Not to aggressive and not to mild but middle of the road. After a rather sweet and tender shave with my toggle yesterday: P I approached this razor with some trepidation. The worries went away in an instant on the first pass. I knew I had a razor I instantly liked. This razor shares some similarities with a couple others such as #66 and my Apollo. I've slowly narrowed down my razors to a handful within this range that I want to collect. I'd like to thank the few members who have offered me their collection but just as important their guidance and advise. It's these sort of members who are the greatest enablers:D that help us in our pursuit of a perfect shave. So perhaps my road isn't necessarily one where I need every razor but specific ones within a specific range. I think my collecting became much more affordable! That leaves a red dot, gold Fatboy, #21.. and... giddie up!...:a24:
