Well I acquired a mint Gillette Slim a few weeks ago off of EBay. After a few shaves to figure out the technique I have to say I have achieved MY shaving Nirvana. I use a Feather set on 9 for everything except the bottom one and half inch of my beard(the lower neck,) which I switch the setting to 3.
17 years..... 17 years I've been searching for my perfect shave. No razor rash or ingrown hairs along the neckline but a bbs shave for the entire beard area. Who woulda thought it would come from a razor made in 1962.
I do have a Merkur HD and yes I can achieve the same results with it. However it takes the hands of a surgeon along the neckline. And darn it, I just ain't that skilled at 6 freaking :15 in the AM.
I know a lot of people make funny remarks about the ins and outs of shaving, but I say this in all sincerity. Shame on Gillette. Shame on that company for it commitment to push junk on the market. I guess I probably ought to just stop here or else I'm going to just rail on Gillette and the lack of ethics in business in the past 40 years, and the current state of our country, etc, yada yada......
Anyways, if you can get a hold of a Gillette Slim, do it, I promise you won't be disappointed.
