What's new

Gillette Slim - Is this a good price?

i think it's too expensive (136.52 Dollars is way too much IMO)

i saw a few last weekend for about $29.

i bought mine for $9, and it looks and works great.

Way overpriced for me. While I don't mind spending a bit more to get a razor that I can see is in really good shape I wouldn't spend over $50 on a Slim ever. (Please note I am NOT a collector and cases, NOS, gold colored, etc. don't do anything for me)

Depending on where you live you might stumble across one in a local antique store...I found over 300 DE razors that way over the years. After you qualify, you can put a Want To Buy thread on the B&B BST forum here and probably pick one up for $25 or so I'd say....Welcome to B&B

Yeah echoing what others have said. Shipping from the US to the UK isn't too bad, so you should be able to find someone on BST or that auction site that'll ship your way for a reasonable amount. At least US shipped about $25-$30 should get you a nice one. So maybe a few more dollars for shipping you'd still be under 40 USD (so around 26-27 Pounds)

Yeah, you're in mint, cased Fatboy territory at that price. No Slim should command that sort of price. I found a cased Slim in near-mint condition at an antique store for $14.00. Granted, it was a lucky find, but you shouldn't pay more than twice that amount for one in the same condition.

Thanks for all of the replies - I'm steering clear of it. I'll look for a more fairly priced option in the near future instead.

i take it you are uk based, i know executive shaving are uk based, most of their vintage razors look in good condition, my thoughts are they are a bit overpriced, but they are a business, you will get a slim from the us ebay for less than half that including postage, an even better deal on here, some of the vendors on here were doing good user grade slims for between $20 to $30, the slim is a very good de razor, a lot of folk like it better than the iconic fat boy, me included.

Like everyone else said, that's very expensive. I bought an excellent condition slim on BST for $37 and it included 100 Astra SP's ($15 value). You should definitely still be able to get one in that range. Having said that, I would happily pay $50 if I had to replace it, because it is far and away my favourite razor. But I don't know that I could endorse spending over $100.

Good luck!

their is a good one on us ebay just now for a buy it now, $52 delivered to the uk, thats £34 delivered, i could give you the ebay number if you want.

don't forget you have to add import duty and a handling fee if items value is declared more than £15 so that could take the price well over £50..thing for us in the uk we don't have a mass of antique stalls/shops or thrift stores so chances of finding stuff like slims of fb's in the wild are just that slim...

Remember though that if importing to UK you will be charged VAT@20% (if over £15 total value of item and post) + £8 handling charge. So that 34 becomes £48.80:angry:.
