The mailman has been very good to me today as I got both the "Patent Applied For" double ring set and a Gillette Cavalier set today. I've been wanting to buy one of these engraved sets for quite a while since I started collecting and I finally have been able to acquire this Cavalier set from the bay. It's a complete set with correct case, blade containers and soap / brush canisters but unfortunately without the brush. The razor does not have a serial number so that would make this a 1928 set according to Achim's site. Here are the pictures:
Complete set - the case interior is in pretty bad shape and the portion of the top cover with the button to snap it shut has cracked and on the verge of separating. The razor, blade containers and the canisters are in pretty good shape though:
The razor, blade containers & the canisters, all in excellent condition. A quick hot water & baking soda bath followed by cleaning with toothbrush & toothpaste brought it back to a very good shine:
Underside of the razor head showing the engraving:
This is one of the most beautiful razor sets I have in my collection and the workmanship on this set is exquisite! Quite happy with this acquisition and hopefully I will get lucky with a New Improved Deluxe or a New President set
