Gillette Aristocrat

Hi all,

New to wet-shaving and to these forums. Recently picked up an unusual rose-gold coloured Aristocrat - does anyone have any idea what this may be from? Haven't seen anything like it and it doesn't seem to have been replated.

Item seems to be mint - not sure if it was ever used. Any thoughts?

She's beautiful! It looks like the rose tint is from the laquer, which seems to be very intact. On the other hand, it may just be some sort of toxic substance, in which case you should send it to me immediately!:biggrin1:

Thanks for the input everyone, I have a feeling Hammer might be correct and it's the 'lacquer'.

In any case, I will break her in see what happens. It'd be great if she retains her original colour though, looks even better in person ;)

I would venture to say this one still has much of its lacquer coating adding to the color of Gillettes 23 kt wash.Sometimes cleaning products aid in bringing out the "reddish" color in the lacquer too. Doesn't do anything to affect the razor. Enjoy the Crat shave!

Discolored lacquer would be my guess too. I have a New DeLuxe Criterion that sort of has the same hue, though not as pronounced. It's a very pretty accident!

I've been eyeing them on eBay lately and trying to do some background on this model. If I saw one that looked that pretty, I'd say my credit card would take a small beating with today's prices. Gorgeous in my opinion. Does anyone think the 1946-47 version is more agressive than later versions?
