What's new

Gillette Aristocrat B1

Hello everyone,

I'm new here, but I found a lot of really helpful information on this forum. I decided to give safety razor a try and almost bought EJ DE 89, when I visited my parents and found 1956 Gillette Aristocrat B1 TTO Made in Brazil, that my father is not using. He was happy to get rid of it, so he gave it to me. I saw couple of reviews on Aristocrats, and I wonder if anyone had any experience with those made in Brazil, are they as good as those made in England, or USA?

Thanks.

I cant speak for a made in Brazil Aristocrat, but I think the English ones are maybe built a little better and with better styling over the American ones IMO. Have any pictures? Also welcome to the B7B my friend.

Well one way to find out is to try em all ;) :001_tongu

It looks like a superspeed, post some pictures of it.

In my opinion the England made razors had a better quality and built than many of the other Gillette internationally made razors.

So according to the information you all were so kind to give me, and I manage to find on the links above, this is a Brazilian made Gillette Super Speed, that was called/marketed as Gillette Aristocrat?

Very interesting thread(as I scored my first aristocrat on B/S/T today). Either way it comes out, VERY beautiful razor. Have a great shave with it I hope.

Thank you, and same to you with your aristocrat. I already had the first shave with mine, but it wasn't so great. A few nicks and some irritation on the neck, but that won't stop me from using DE razor. I can't expect the first time to be perfect, can I?

A beautiful razor you have there! And exactly, it only gets better from here :001_smile

Thats an interesting razor. The knurling on the handle looks just like a flare-tip, but the tip isn't 'flared'.

Cool razor. As for the shave, you'll get used to it, and better with it. They will turn out to be the best shaves.

And welcome to B&B.

I have an update. It turns out that I didn't pay attention to date codes. I couldn't find any letter below MARCA REGIST, but I did find a number 3 below PAT NO 36057. So I have no idea what year is this razor from. It looks the same as B1 Aristocrat from the pics above, but it also looks the same as T3 Monotech (Super-Speed).

I assumed it's B1 Aristocrat just by the looks of it, but now I think it might be T3 Monotech (although T isn't visible). I guess these two are the same model with different names and from different years, I mean they look so alike they have to be.
But never-mind that anymore, can anybody tell me how mild (or aggressive) this razor is? I think it's safe to say it's a Super-Speed, and I see some of you own, or have tried razors like this one.
Thank you all.
