What's new

Get any photo equipment for Xmas ?

I picked up a lens through KEH for my medium format kit.

What Medium Format do you have ? I still have my old film Medium Format...a Mamiya TLR (220 Pro f) with a 55 mm wide angle, 80mm normal and 180mm super telephoto. I also used to rent occasionally a Pentax 6 X 7 with a Pentax 90 mm F 2.8 Leaf Shutter lens.

I was fortunate. My wife bought me a Pentax f 2.8 40mm Limited series lens. It's an excellent lens.

Is it this one?

Or this one?

I thought my Canon 40mm pancake was small but
those Pentax 40mm lenses are really small.

Does it have the AF motor built in or is it driven by the
camera body? Also what body are you using it with?
Enjoy the new lens. :thumbup1:

Or this one? It's this one. Pentax has two 40 mm F 2.8's. One is the Limited series which are aluminum bodied, very well built lenses that have an excellent reputation.

View attachment 295572Pentax also makes this 40mm lens. It's more of a kit lens, plastic bodied...good lens but not in the same class as the Pentax Limited Series.

I thought my Canon 40mm pancake was small but
those Pentax 40mm lenses are really small. They are. I have a Pentax K-m body which in it's time was the smallest DSLR with an ASP-C sized sensor. I plan to use the 40 mm Ltd. with this as it makes for a small package.

Does it have the AF motor built in or is it driven by the
camera body? Not sure...think it's built into the lens, but I could be wrong. Also what body are you using it with?I will probably use it with all my Pentax DSLR's...a K-5, K10D and a K-m. I have a 70 mm F 2.4 Limited lens...think the 40 and 70...both pancakes...will be a good set.
Enjoy the new lens. :thumbup1: Thanks I have already used it and I'm impressed with the sharpness.

Like you, I also have some Canon equipment. A compact Canon G-12 and the Canon 430 EX 11 flash. I keep the Canon stuff in a LowePro small slingshot bag and usually take it with me as my daily carry around. Great equipment..the Canon.

I got a Pentax K01 body. I shoot with a K10D and had been thinking about upgrading; the low prices on the K01 were too good to pass up. My plan is to use it for landscape, architectural and macro work. I'm not sure that I care for the form factor (50+ years of using a viewfinder), but expect to mostly use it on a tripod. If the sensor/IQ is as good as people say it is, and live view with the larger LCD works for me, then I may retire my MF film camera. It'll also give me a better feel for whether or not to upgrade the DSLR. The K10D gives me excellent results printing up to 10X15, so I haven't had any need to upgrade, so far.

I got Lightroom 4 for Xmas. I got a new computer a few weeks ago and I couldn't find my old copy of Lightroom 1. Lightroom is pretty essential to me because I shoot mostly in RAW and its an excellent RAW converter program. I also purchased HDR Photomatix Pro for myself.

I got a few rolls of the film I use, Print File contact proof "maker", a small 10x loupe and a a mid range Epson scanner to be able to scan in prints and negatives so I can share online.

Sounds like a bonanza Christmas for our photography crowd. I'm really looking forward to seeing more photos here in the coming year!

Have not gotten anything new in so long that I am starting to worry if I can still get batteries for some of this stuff :scared:
