GEM Micromatic "Reversible" Blades

I know there is a separate section for safety razor blades, but I felt like I would have better luck asking the specific SE guys this question rather than going to that section. I know that some of the carbon steel SE blades are very usable, but was wondering if anyone has tried the GEM Micromatic "Reversible" blades in the yellow container. I have a few of them, but have been hesitant to try them. Anyone shed some light on them? Thanks

I have some of the Micromatic Doubledge blades, but all of the ones I've opened have been corroded. I wish they were in better shape cause I'd like to try one, but seeing how they were made in the 30's and 40's they didn't hold up very well. Are these the ones you're talking about?

Tom,
No, the ones I've seen actually say "Reversible" where yours say "Double edge". Just curious if they were harsh like so many of the double-edge carbons or OK like the GEM Blue Star. Thanks,
Cleave

They're the same blade, Gem just changed the name later on. They are double edge blades that were designed for use in the Micromatics.

I have three packs on the way with a Gem Junior fat handle razor I just bought, the wrong one for them. I would suspect that they were discontinued due to customer complaints about buying the wrong blades for their razor. Most Gem blade compatible razors put pressure on the top edge of the blade. With the top edge of a standard Gem blade with the folded over metal stiffener this is not a problem. With the double edge Micromatic blades the pressure on the top edge would damage the upper cutting edge, making it useless. I have a number of Gem compatible razors and most other than the Micromatic and Clog Pruf will damage these blades IMO.

If the blades are in good shape when they arrive I will try shaving with one in a Micromatic razor as I have all three variations.
