GEM Micromatic Bullet-Tip

I found this a couple of days ago at a flea market. Bought it for a song. It seems to be a GEM Micromatic Bullet-Tip, am I right?

I never used a Single-edge before. What should I expect? Is it mild, aggressive...?! What are your thoughts about it...?

YuP , thats a bullet -tip nice and minty looking to. Mild but good shaver . Im very fond of mine .Are the double edge blades rusty or still shave ready ? Congrats again

Well... I have no intention to try that blades... They seem to be too old to be shave ready, and God knows where they have been stored!
After all, I bought this at a flea market...!

Nice.Just an observation on my part.My brass micro seems to "drag" across my skin, unlike my chrome one or my featherweight.Any one else experience this?-

Nice Score!!! I've never seen a blade box like that before. That's one of the mintiest GEM sets I've seen.

Nice pick up.
Just pop along to a Wl-mart, CVS, Walgreens etc and pick up a 10 pack of single edged blades.
I got a nice smooth shave from the Flying Wing, keep that dot real close to the face and you'll be right.

That's awesome! I love the Portuguese instructions, too. I imagine "Olho-Guia" for "Guiding Eye" is probably OK, but does the "5 o'clock shadow" idiom work the way they've translated it: "sombra das 5" (which I assume is pretty much literally, "shadow of 5")?

As far as how it shaves, I would say that the Flying Wing is more or less the Super Speed of the SE world -- pretty mild, but still effective. If you usually prefer a more aggressive razor you might find yourself more drawn to the Flying Wing's older siblings, the OCMM or Clog-pruf. But if you like more moderate-to-mild razors the Flying Wing is probably right up your alley.

No, you can say that the translation is correct... a literal translation of "5 o'clock shadow", in Portuguese, would be "sombra das 5 horas". But "sombra das 5" is OK, and sounds better!

Thank you for your insight. The comparison with the SuperSpeeds is pretty enlightening.
It's not easy to find these blades in Portugal, but a gentlemen from another board already offered to send me some. :001_smile I'm looking forward to try them!

The vintage blades probably aren't as sharp as they originally were as carbon steel can go dull just from oxygen in the air, you should try it out with some recently produced blades.

Bullet tip is my favorite SE razor.

I hate to say it but that one looks too nice to break out and use.

If you are going to get new blades and use it DO NOT get box cutter blades. Make sure you get razor/shaving blades. Buy them from a pharmacy. The stainless PTFE coated blades will be marked GEM on one side and stainless on the other side.
