What's new

Funny and frustrating all at the same time.

So, as some of you may recall, I recently scored a sleeve of vintage Williams Tonsorial at the thrift store. At the same time I also snagged an Old Spice mug :001_smile , with some unknown old soap left in it. Well, I wanted to put my freshly opened vintage Williams into the mug and so I proceeded to pry the old soap out with a knife. No problem, a couple of minutes later the old soap was out. Naturally however, in the process of removing it I got some on my fingers. Then while rinsing my fingers off I had the thought "hmmm, this is really slick, maybe should keep this old soap". Well, last night I pressed the chunks of old soap into a bowl before shaving, and let a little hot water sit on it while I showered. HOLY BALONEY!!! I WISH I KNEW WHAT THIS SOAP WAS!!! And where I could get more. Lather like you wouldn't believe.

So, now I have between 1/3 and 1/2 of a puck of incredible lather, and then get to spend the rest of my life searching for a soap that compares to the old soap that was left in the shaving mug.
(Really glad I didn't throw it out though)

Sounds exactly like you found some Old Spice in there. Grail soap, now get searching.

Just going out on a limb... but could it be vintage Old Spice?

The thought has crossed my mind, but I hadn't really heard anything about it's performance so I didn't want to make that assumption. But, if that is what I have, then I know what to add the "One thing you could bring back" thread.

I haven't tried it myself, but OS soap seems to be pretty well regarded in terms of performance.
