Fun with gear

My mom and my Aunt have had been antique dealers for many years and brought over a box of goodies for me to pick over and help them price (I didn't think there were any real goodies or I would've offered them up here). There were some interesting pieces I thought I'd share, though. I ended up keeping the 2 red and white Ever-Readys for myself :001_smile

The black thing on the left looked to be some kind of hair trimmer that uses a DE blade. I think it is for beard and maybe sideburn trims. It has open comb like teeth, with the teeth being longer on one side. I think it would pull hair and hurt, though!

There was a neat SE razor with a local business name in the case. Looks like a giveaway type of razor, but it had a nice shiny case. Next to that is something that I thought would be great. It turned out to be a cheap plastic razor with a metallic-like coating from China.

Seaforth...the name sounds familiar, but I hadn't seen the mug before. Was that a popular soap at one time?

All in all, it was nice to be able to hang out with my mom for awhile discussing things she likes (antiques) and things I like (GEAR!). It was a good day :001_smile

Nice score!

I would recommend restoring those shaving brush yourself. It takes a minimum of tools and the result is premium!

Men's shaving products (soaps, AF, EDT, etc) marketed under the name "Seaforth", were made by the Alfred D. Mckelvey Co. of New York City. Sometime in the 70's the company began to be acquired by other companies and by the 80's the entire product line had gone away (you know the P&G business model). I would be very interested in the shave mug if its still around.

What a great way to spent the day, make sure to find more reasons for those kind of days.

That is a nice lot of gear. I used to use Seaforth years ago and it was a nice soap. I still have some of the mugs and AS lotion bottles.

Doug

Indeed! It's on my overly long list of To-Do's, hehe.

I called her this morning and she thinks it was sold already :(

The black thing looks like a razor head attached to the top of a cell phone.

HAHA! Too true!

If you were down here I'd be asking to buy that scuttle(?) on the right. Very light on the ground around here.
If they weren't in the trade it would be a nice catch. As it is, I guess "SSDD" applies?
