What's new

Found some good stuff.

Was on a holiday trip, had some time to drop by a collectibles place for a few minutes. This guy had a small can of Safety razors. I bought 7. I got a close to Mint F-2 Fatboy, no plate loss, super shiny, everything worked perfect on it. Got three Made in England Super Speeds (maybe Rockets?) had the Pat. Number 430,030. Got a long black handled Super Adjustable in good condition, one Canadian 1932 Tech razor and a 1950s flare tip Super Speed. Get this, I picked them out, put the pile on the counter, said how much and he said $2 each. So I bought the whole lot for $14. What a deal! The Super Adjustable and the Fatboy alone would be a bargain at $14. But I got 7 razors for that price.

Hey Congrats Polod--

I'm absolutely convinced that there are tons of razors out there. I pop into antique shops and fine none--then two weeks later same shop will have five. Every razor I have bought except one has been very moderately priced and the antique dealers sometimes want to make deals to get rid of them.

I paid 25 dollars for a exc. conditon 1904 Old Style single ring that had no handle cracks or wear.Other than that every razor I have bought has been in the 3 to 6 dollar range, some cased. I had one dealer throw in an extra superspeed when I bought one...2 for 5 dollars..

If you're patient and enjoy killing some time on the weekends, you can find good stuff. Plus it's a fun way to spend the weekend. Skip E-bay guys...do it the right way. The Treasure Hunt!!

I think I just got lucky. It happens once in awhile. But nothing like MTgrayling who found a whole 3 gallon bucket of razors. I'm sure he scored over 300 razors all in once place. Instant collection! There was a wide variety of razors too.
