Found a knife in the basement

Right, so I was going through some boxes downstairs and found my Dad's old knife that he had when he was a kid. I never thought much about it and I'm not really the type of carrying a knife on me. I don't think my dad was either but anyways, he had the knife when he was a kid, passed it to me and I never really used it.

I found it again today and decided to have a look at the maker. Surprise, surprise, it's made by Dorko in Germany! I know the knife was bought in the mid-60s to late-60s.

I will question him when I see him to know if he's aware who Dorko is. I plan on restoring the knife a bit and sharpen it!

I had one that had been my father's. No idea where it went in the end. The handle on mine was the same as that one and it was bone. No idea what kind. Bovine I should imagine.

Restoration is the plan, I will take a few more pictures. It's still sharp, but it could be sharper! I will do a set of pictures after, of course!

that isn't a plastic handle, guaranteed. I believe the handle is antler. I have one from Solingen Germany just like that, but in excellent condition because my brother collects knives just like this and gave it to me. Yours is probably worth $20-40 because of condition and I love the knife BTW. It's a nice knife to keep handy and use often as it's broken in already. Im personally not fond of keeping knives just to look at, which is what my brother does.

My dad has my grandfathers old Germania fixed blade like this one and the handle looks identical and it is horn. My guess is stag.

Okay, I played with the knife a bit today and got most of the rust out. Some of the pitting is really deep. I gave the leather some conditioner to limit the damages.

I reckon you gents are right and that handle is horn. While I was cleaning it, it didn't exactly felt like plastic. I still need to call my dad to get to the bottom of this story. I find it to be a too high quality knife for a teenager... Maybe that's me... I also sharpened the bugger, it's pretty sharp now!
