What's new

Floor Bed

Morning there gents,

I'm moving house again soon, and I'm looking for a new bed. I know what I want, but I don't know what it's called...

I want a bed where the mattress sits almost on the floor, the bed springs are there, they're just low to the ground. My mother insists they're called futons, but in Britain that just means a sofa bed. Can someone think of another name for these beds?

Many thanks,

Dave

The only thing I can think of is a platform bed, though that is usually just a mattress and a supporting platform, with no box spring. There are a lot of different configurations of futons as well.

Are you looking for a bedframe that just sits really low, but still has a mattress and boxspring? Or a frame where the mattress sits directly on a wooden base?

Anyways, it's definitely not a futon. In North America those are (generally) cheap sofas that fold out into a bed as pictured here http://images.google.com/images?rlz...hrome&q=futon&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi

I would prefer the first option, mmack66 you seem to be bang on with the platform bed thing.

Thank you gents,

Dave
