Floid vs. Floid

Hi. After reading what I could drum up, I've come to the conclusion that these are both very good aftershaves. Wondering if the differences between the Floids are as clear cut as I've been reading: Blue is a "younger" scent and regular is more mature? Does Blue really smell like Aqua Velva? And can anyone give me a better description of the regular Floid? All I've been able to get is "powdery" or "talc" smell, which doesn't tell me a whole lot. Like Clubman, maybe? To me, that's a bit "talcy." Any further info on these would help.

I think Superlather.com may have decants you can try for comparison. Also, IIRC, Todd (Phog Allen) had a thread awhile back describing his experience with all of the Floids.

I've only tried the Spanish Floids, and I recommend them wholeheartedly.

The Spanish menthol Floids, Both "Sauve" and "Vigaroso" have a sweet menthol note that is difficult to describe acccurately, but I think it is a superior aftershave in every respect.

I also purchased two of the Spanish "blue" Floids from Mark at Superlather when they were available. I found them to be a fresh, citrus-type of aftershave that was also excellent, but not worth the price I paid for a 150 ml bottle. According to him, that is no longer available.

If I have anything to say about it, I will never be out of Spanish Floid aftershave.

The competition seems fierce. I might have to pull the trigger on the decants, although I'm a little leery of the regular, which everyone describes as more "powdery." SWMBO is allergic to "powdery" scents - she sneezes like cray, etc. when I wear my Tabac cologne. Unfortunately. Maybe the blue is less.

Hey Bob. I had forgotten about my mini novel on the splash decants. So here it is. http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=138745&highlight=superlather

Pioneer. I cannot stress enough the idea of the decants. I would go to Superlather's site and see what is available. Particularly with the Floids. The last I checked the prices were pretty stout. I think it has to do with shipping them to the U.S. As far as I know there is no regular North American distribution so these shops have to buy them from the European source. So buying blind may leave you with a rather expensive door stop if you don't like it. BTW, I finally bought a bottle of the Alt and love the stuff.

Regards, Todd

I sniffed the blue and orange ones in antwerp a while back (i don't know what they're called, sorry) and didn't like either of them.

To me they had to much of a "classic" AS scent, and i couldnt see myself use them being only 21.

I had the same feeling with aqua velva; so they do summon the same "atmosphere" with me (but i never smelled them side by side to compare)
