Floid Suave

Just picked up a bottle of the Spanish Floid Suave and wow.....I was not expecting that level of menthol hit and cooling. I tend to prefer a decent bit of alcoholic burn and didn't really notice much from this in the first few seconds.....a little tingle but far from bracing. Moving on a few seconds it felt like someone had an icepack on my face and the menthol kick knocked my socks off. I gather the suave is meant to be the more laid back of the Floid aftershaves but the menthol seemed like it had been turned up to 11. Once that faded it settled down to a nice barbershop scent with the powdery notes I was expecting. SWMBA found the scent hilarious and claims I smell like old ladies, I'm rather partial to it.

Looking forward to getting to know this a little better but first impressions are it's fairly gentle and soothing for a few seconds, which gives way to a minute or two of OMG MENTHOL!!!!!!! ICE!!!!!!!WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MY FACE which fades to a charming old school scent. Glad I picked this up in as summer is starting to appear, not sure I'd be reaching for it when the hail and snow are battering off the bathroom windows.

Closest I've came to doing this:
since I had my first de shaves followed up with Old Spice

Any fans out there? anyone else get a shock when they slapped it on for the first time?

Edit: Hmmm, that pic should be larger, the upload process seems to have shrunk the 6.6MB .png to a tiny jpeg. Will try to embiggen it later......

I had the exact same experience, first time I put it on I'm thinking this is pretty mellow... then the delayed whack of menthol hits you

I have also purchased the Floid and love the scent. The atomizer I purchased with the Floid seems to have an issue: , is a simple twist on top all that is required to use it? I attempted to twist the top on and pump, but the aftershave would mist out from the cap at the top of the bottle and not through the atomizer...

Might need to dig out a menthol cream and go for a menthol fest for the next shave.

No idea on the atomizer, I splash and go.

suave has less menthol. suave is spanish for smooth. vigoroso is (duh) vigorous.

there is a third scent - black; which is completely different than suave or vigoroso. it's "modern"

i guess it depends on how warm your summers are? I was at Giant's Causeway (whole northern coast, really) last year and when I looked at a map, I guess I never realized just how much of Scotland is still further north than all of ireland. and ireland isn't the warmest place.

but then, the Russians LOVE their menthol...

Yeah, I figured as much. I've spent nov/dec in ireland/northern ireland - on vacation no less. <10* and raining all the time. and the wind coming off the atlantic if you're on the west coast, it must be brutal. i have a good friend from edinburgh and he says it's edin-brrrrrrrrrrr-uh. :) still want to come visit scotland, though. beautiful in all the bbc/itv shows the wife & i watch.

maybe make your own a/s based on whisky?

First time I opened the Vigoroso I was a bit disappointed with fragrance compared to the Blue. Anyway gave myself a big splash after a fairly close shave and after a few seconds delay 'boom" and this increased over maybe 20 seconds and just felt divine.
Now I wait for a couple of minutes in between then hit up Floid blue over the top and skin feels fantastic and super smooth without oiliness. Enjoy !

I've been using this daily for the past few weeks to give it a good test run and am really happy with it. It's being retired from the regular rotation as swmba still finds the scent hilarious and can't get over me smelling like old ladies, shame really. After getting used to the menthol hit I can see me appreciating even more of a menthol kick on a warm sunny day but as they are as rare as hen's teeth around these parts I probably won't bother investing in the vigoroso.
