First time using a brush

I just got a Simpson's special 1 best Yesterday and tried it out on some RazoRock chianti lavender and I was wondering if I'm using it right? Do I push down on the brush or do I just lightly swirl it around my face?

I know this seems like a stupid question but I was just making sure i'm not doing anything wrong.

Lightly swirl is the way to go. Pushing down too hard leads to breaking the center hairs. There have been recent posts on this where the term "mashing down" was used in connection with damage to the brush. A light action to get all the tips working is the correct way to use a brush.

Ahh cool thanks for fast response.

I was kinda pressing down when lathering in the bowl and on my face. Oops!!!

Thanks I definitely don't want to damage it and I've got a 2nd brush coming which is quite a bit more than the Simpsons.

Go very light at first - be gentle, then slowly find your preferred pressure - don't push down too hard in the middle, so the brush splays out.
Be gentle, but don't treat it like a baby, it's still just a tool to create lather with - but a tool you need to take good care of
