First Str8 Shave

I was too conservative; not close enough. Did not cut myself though. I like the razor, sharp as the dickens (no surprise). Ended up finishing with the DE.

Shaving my left side is still awkward. The chin is difficult.

I need to practice, practice, practice ...

I think I need a practice razor w/o an edge!!

Beautiful blade & congratulations on your first str8 shave. Chin is always a challenge as is shaving one side compared to the other. My advice is to keep at it. It does get a lot better, fairly quickly. Secondly, try shaving with your non dominant hand. It makes a huge difference...it's not as difficult as it may seem. Pratice lathering, writing etc with that hand

Watch the angle and pressure. Two things that always make or break a shave

I starter with straights about a month ago, and yes, you will need to practice, a lot, but when you first start to get the hang of it it is definitely worth it.
I don't think practicing with a dull straight will be a good idea, maybe to get used to the movement, but you won't know it your angle is right, and might get trouble learning the right angle and pressure later.

It's a steep learning curve, and I still have a long way to go, but I found that the road from a rubbish to a decent shave was a lot shorter than I expected, bare of with poorer shaves for a short while and it will soon get a lot better.

Fine looking blade you got there and welcome to the club. Try eating with your non dominant hand it will help with getting used to using it.

You did great. A successful first shave with straight razor is one with no major cuts. There is good reason to be conservative.
