Took the plunge this morning:
1. Read Instructions on B&B thread about proper blade alignment - check
2. Razor - Merkur Slantbar - check
3. Forgiving blade - Shark (smoothest I know of) - check
4. Slick cushion-y lather - applied Cremo as pre-shave and whipped up a cushiony cloud of Tabac - check
5. Proper technique - applied almost no pressure, blade at about 35 degree angle wtg, xtg, atg 3 pass - check
Result = AWESOME!!!!!!
Conclusions: Slantbars are very aggressive so treat them with care, got two tiny cuts, didn't even need alum for em though so no big deal whatsoever. I was very amazed at how much hair the slant removes. Only needed three passes for this shave. Normally with my EJ86, I need 4-5 plus touch ups. Slants just mow hair down!!!! The shave was not as smooth and maybe not as close as my EJ86, but I'm going to attribute that to the fact it was my first time. No razor burn what-so-ever though.
Verdict: I love it. I'm sure it will only get better as my technique improves. Love that I don't have to do as many passes with it. Next up: I want to try my slant with an Iridium, which I hear is a killer combo!
Thanks B&B as always. This is SO MUCH FUNNNNN!!!!!!!
