What's new

first shave with a Feather blade!

...yesterday morning, with Truefitt and Hill 1804 shaving cream. I got a couple minor nicks, and there was some irritation when all was said and done. Still, it was a good shave! Now let's see how the next 4 or 5 shaves go (I generally use a blade for 6 shaves).

You may find that the Feather doesn't last as long as some other blades. Three shaves is about my limit, probably no more than two in a blade-buster such as the 2011 R41. YMMV, of course.

What kind of razor? And I will also say the the bloom is off the rose on a feather after 2 shaves; but they are 2 GREAT shaves.

I just tried these infamous blades for the first time on Saturday....and I'm pretty sure I'm crazy, because I can't tell a difference between Feathers and my 7 O'clock Blues.. (other than a couple of nicks with the Feather) They don't feel any sharper or give me a closer shave that I can tell. I was thinking it was going to be this huge difference and it was gonna mow my stubble down like no ones business and take half my face off in the process...but not at all. I was left nonplussed.

I tried a Feather for the 1st time about 2 weeks ago. I havent made up my mind about it yet, though it is REALLY sharp. The blade didnt seem to last any longer with me than any other blade. Started pulling at my face and leaving bumps after my 3rd shave which is about what would normally happen with most other blades on me. I'm using a Gillette 7 O Clock Super Platinum in the blue box right now. (After only 1 shave) it seems to be a little more forgiving but shaves fairly well.

Depending on your razor, you probably won't get 6 "good" shaves from your Feather. I can maybe get 5 from some of my milder razors, but with my slant or my Muhle, I was only getting 3 or maybe 4.
