First Restoration..... before and after pic's

I found this brush at a antique store in San Marcos California. I actually left the store empty handed but contacted them a couple days later. They were nice enough to send it to me via mail.

I started by pulling most of the old knot out with my hand. Used a dremel to remove the remaining hair and all the old glue (nasty stuff). It's amazing what a little automotive grade rubbing compound/polish will do to these beauties. I finished it up with some wax and buffed her out. Ordered a 20mm finest extra stuffed knot from Jon at Golden Nib and secured it with some locktite underwater adhesive. Philip from Vulfix sent me some new Simpson's stickers and there you have it. I am very happy with the results and look forward to restoring some more brushes in the future.

I ran a couple of test runs but can't wait to use it in the morning. I set the loft at 49mm and am very happy with it. I was looking for more of a light bulb shaped brush and I got lucky.

Any help on ID'ing this brush would be greatly appreciated. The stamp says CT1 Pure Badger. Thanks for looking.

Sorry for the dirty razors.... should have cleaned them prior to snapping the pic's.

Hey thanks for all the compliment guys. I really enjoyed doing this restoration and am currently looking for my next handle. I used the brush this morning for the first time and I have to say I really like it. The handle is very ergonomic and just fits in my hand well. The 2 band knot from GN is awesome. It needs a little breaking before I can compare it to my Rooney Super.... very happy with the purchase though.

Excellent job. :thumbup1:

However be warned............ it becomes another AD.

After my first restore, I've just rung all the "distant" antique shops, I'd already rung for razors, to ask if they had any brushes......

Alas I am still empty handed.

Oh, c'mon, that old bit of fur could have been used to dust your Rolodex, or something...

Seriously, nice restoration.

I have found many decently priced brushes on the bay, you should check it out. I think I want to buy a nice looking Ever-Ready brush next. I really like the black and red color one in particular. I hear you when you talk about it becoming another AD. This is something I think I could really get into. I just keep telling my wife they are way cheaper than buying a new golf club....heehee!

Can we have a pic of it in the hand (to get a better feel of the size).
