Is this at all normal?
I had never achieved BBS (except on my cheeks) with a DE no matter how hard I would try/how brutally I would force my bleeding face to submit. Even when I butchered my face to achieve a "good" result, I never got past DFS. This is not a matter of standards - my standards were not that high.
Now I have been shaving with a straight razor for two weeks (today was day 14). I have been slowly, steadily improving until yesterday when I got a DFS in two passes out of nowhere. Then this morning I got a glimmering, beautiful, all-over BBS in three passes with no irritation and no gore.
For the record, I used Proraso Pre/post between passes and lathered with MWF. My post-shave was just witch hazel.
I don't reckon this will be happening again in the near future (though I wouldn't mind if it did). I don't know how it happened, or how I knew to go for it.
But I'll accept it.
