What's new

Find of the year!!

Went to a flea mkt today and bought all of these FULL 70's vintage Avon AS decanters plus 33 empty decanters and two decanters (Spirit of St Louis and Gear Shift) for TWENTY DOLLARS :w00t: I turned around and sold the empty decanters to a thrift shop on my way home for fifteen bucks so I ended up with 28 vintage Avon decanters full of vintage AS for Five bucks! I am thrilled!!

I did internet research on all the bottles and they all date from 1969-1978.
I was born in 1970 so NOW I can go around smellin' like men smelled when I was a kid anytime I please
This is cool as Christmas!

Congratulations!

Saw something similar about a month ago in an antique store.

Owner had a Avon chess set of aftershave/cologne bottles shaped like chess pieces.

That's an awesome find! Now I'm REALLY getting jealous!!

You're gonna have to quit the Tarheel Aftershave Trinity and join the Yellowhammer Avon Acquisition Team! lol
I gained enough experience points to move up at least two levels with this buy....I'm guessing I am at least a Third Level Aftershave User by now

Hokey Smokes! My dad's cousin worked for Avon in marketing and we had tons of those things every year, even from before I started shaving. They stung like heck, though!

Too cool! Is the juice still good?

It appears to be! I just had my evening shave and I used "Windjammer" AS from the "Straight 8" decanter which according to the web is 1969-1972 and it had the normal AS burn and the smell is here.
It is an odd scent, very peppery or spicy with a hint of leaves. I really can't put my finger on the exact scent but it is unique.

nice find i wish i would have gone to collinsville today. even if i didn't find anything cool like that the tenderloin biscuits & deep fried twinkies are worth the trip. :001_tongu

I had a famous Collinsville Tenderloin Biscuit and WANTED one of the big corn dogs but never got hungry enough to buy one after the biscuit

i have had some good times there. one time my wife ex-wife now sent me there to get a shelf. i ended up coming home with a beagle puppy instead. she wasn't very happy.

Do you like the scent? I haven't smelled it in years. From my youth, I remember pouring some Avon cologne out of Lincoln's head or something and thinking it smelled like cat pee mixed with spice. Funky, musky, nasty!

Cool collection of bottles though!!

Some smell good and some not so good. I like the Windjammer, Wild Country, Spicy and Deep Woods alot. The one called Leather smells like crap.

Great find, Bill! I like some of the old Avon AS, too bad they quit making most of it.
