feel the burn

I see people posting how they splash and there is no burn? How is that possible? I get varying degrees of burn but never zero from a splash. You have dragged a blade across your skin and removed some epidermis. You are going to get some burn no just from that no matter what, no? Technique is important, but i just cant see not getting anmything at all. Maybe it's the cheap drug store AS I am using? I don't get burn from alum, balm or WH. It's not end of the world pain or anything, but there is a sting.
